Rare and exceptional Pair of Solid Silver Candlesticks from the early 18th century with hexagonal cast bases as well as the shafts, knots and sockets. Bases engraved with the Alliance Coat of Arms under the Count's Crown (described below). Each Candlestick is remarkably hallmarked with the Charge Hallmarks (9 fleuronné with ermine) and Discharge (butterfly) for RENNES 1738-1750, the Jurande Hallmarks for
RENNES 1747-48 (C Crowned with ermine) and the Hallmarks of the Master Goldsmith
Michel-Eloy LE TAILLEUR (Hallmark with the initials "MT" crowned fleur-de-lys and an ermine at the bottom) received in 1739. This very rare Breton Pair of Candlesticks from the early 18th century is in very good general condition and remarkably hallmarked, micro-scratches from use. For the discerning collector ....

Candlesticks engraved with the alliance coat of arms stamped with a count's crown of Jean-Baptiste-Joseph ROUXEL Knight and Lord of Lescouët (1705-1762) and his wife Bertranne-Rose Du GASPERN (alias GARSPEN) (1715-1768) who were married on February 10, 1733 at the Saint-Martin church in Lamballe.
