Object description :

"Hunting Scene With Ruins, 18th Century, Oil On Canvas"
This 18th century painting of great narrative richness probably transports us to a very lively hunting scene composed of men and women of the nobility, beaters and a horde of dogs hunting game.
This painting offers a very detailed composition, depicting the hunters, their horses and a steep landscape, on the mountainside which opens onto a deep perspective.

The lord and his wife are on horseback in the foreground, many characters (beaters, villagers, servants and the dogs accompany them), also very detailed and in full activity, we notice on the right a cottage and a peasant woman who watches the scene. In the background a citadel village stands: the watchtower defends the entrance to the village on the side of a ravine, connected in the foreground by a narrow arched bridge, we see further away the bell tower of the church among the roofs of the houses of the village.

Finally, in the last shot, a mountain landscape bathed in a majestic sky with blue and pink hues crowns this hunting scene. The frame is well mastered and dynamic: indeed, the succession of shots is remarkable with strong narrative elements that give real depth to this very lively painting.

Beautiful frame in rosewood and blackened pear wood, the painting was cleaned, restored and mounted on canvas by our professional restoration workshop.
