Ferdinand Barbedienne, Enameled Bronze And Onyx Clock, 19th Century

Superb Barbedienne clock composed of a gilded and enameled bronze cup with ringed handles resting on an onyx base. The dial and the bronze inclusion of the base are also enameled.

Signature “F. BARBEDIENNE” on the base of the cup.

Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810-1892) is a French sculptor and founder. From 1839, he began reproducing in bronze sculpted works exhibited in European museums. He put his multiple casting process at the service of contemporary sculptors and also produced numerous furniture bronzes.

Some visible chips on the base of the onyx base.
