Eugene Boudin - Oil On Panel - Catalogue Raisonné

Made in 1890, this oil painting by Eugene BOUDIN depicts a farmyard with chickens, a theme rarely depicted by the artist, especially since he gave great importance to the gallinaceous birds by giving them the main subject of the composition, painting them with precision and in large numbers (several dozen). Usually, chickens only appear in some of BOUDIN's works in the background and in a figurative way, eclipsed by the landscape and one or more characters.

IMPORTANT: This charming painting is referenced in the catalogue raisonné of the work of Eugène BOUDIN by Robert SCHMIT under the number 2722 (see last two photos)

41 x 33 cms (with frame, slight accidents restored, approximately 52 x 44 cms)

Signed lower right "E.BOUDIN", dated 90 (for 1890), located lower left "Spir ker" (?)

On the back of the panel, incomplete presence of an old label and a black and white photo of the work, probably cut out from the sale catalogue at the Hôtel Drouot of February 26, 1927, lot 7, in which the painting was reproduced (details appearing in the catalogue raisonné)

Very good general condition, painting has just been completely cleaned, note an old repaint at the entrance gate
