"Chest Of Drawers Stamped Alexandre Monoury"
Louis XVI style chest of drawers stamped A Monoury (on the four uprights) in lemonwood veneer and rosewood fillets. It opens with three drawers framed by a molding. Gilded bronze pull handles representing lions' heads, the lock entries swans. Fluted uprights resting on tapered feet decorated with bronze sabots. It is topped with a molded gray marble on its edge. Functional locks. Early 20th century period Very good condition Alexandre MONOURY (1837-1926). He entered an apprenticeship at the "École des Maîtres de la Manufacture Royale des Meubles de la Couronne" at the age of 11 and was taught until the age of 18 by the great cabinetmaker and marquetry maker Dubois. He settled in Revel and created his furniture workshop in 1889. The reputation of this town earned it the title of "Capital of Art Furniture" sometimes even called "the Versailles of Furniture"
