Portrait of a dog signed and dated "Louise Lalande 1884". Pastel under glass framed in a beautiful octagonal frame from the 19th century.

Louise Lalande (1834-1890) is a naturalist painter from Le Mans. She was a student of Joseph Urbain MELIN. She made her debut at the Salon in 1864. A work characteristic of her production, "Dogs on hold" is kept at the Le Mans museum.
