Full-length portrait of American photographer and activist Emily WEBB. Carte de Visite albumen print Emily Webb was one of the pioneers of female portrait photography. She began as an assistant to her father, and in 1864 became the owner of her own photography studio at 302 Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, where she practiced her art through exceptional portraits of individuals, families with children, pets, and even chickens! Louis Lagriffe was born on October 3, 1824 in Auch, Gers. Under the name Désiré Lagriffe, he practiced photography in Paris, as did his brothers Jean-Baptiste (1820-1865) and Clément (1828-1899). However, her career as a photographer was shorter than that of the latter. He is said to have worked in Paris between 1860 and 1864, first at 15, boulevard de la Madeleine, then at 13, boulevard des Capucines.
