Sculpture representing Silenus, the satyr personifying drunkenness who adopted Dionysus. Replica of a Roman bronze unearthed in Pompeii in 1863 and preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Naples. The crown decorated with palmettes worn by Silenus must have held a terracotta container containing wine, or an oil lamp. Beautiful bronze of good quality, patina in very good condition and of beautiful size 63cm.
