Very beautiful miniature representing the portrait of a man in profile. He wears an engineer officer's outfit with his medals of the Order of Saint-Louis, the Legion of Honor and the Order of Fidelity. On the back of the work a lock of hair on a light textile background. These are generally those of the subject painted or of the loved one by this person in order to symbolically bring them together. Restoration period around 1820. 3x2.6cm The setting is in 18k gold not hallmarked but acid tested. Very beautiful souvenir resembling a reliquary.
