Oil on wood 50 cm x 30 cm sold with its frame signed and dated Léon Hato 1947 and representing a view of Annecy. Sold with Invoice-Certificate. Perfect condition. Leon Hato (1883-1953). Watchmaker and painter. Hatot studied from 1895 to 1898 at the watchmaking school of Besançon, then at the École des Beaux-Arts in the city. In 1905, he opened a store in Besançon and began producing and engraving watch cases in precious metals. In 1911, he moved to Paris and took over the "Maison Bredillard", while keeping his factory in Besançon. From 1919, he founded a company to produce battery-powered watches. In 1923, he began producing ATO clocks with Marius Lavet. In 1925, Hatot won the Grand Prix at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts with a series of Art Deco electric clocks. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
