Sector Compass, Wood And Iron, 17-18th, Modest And Rare Scientific Object
Artist: Art Populaire
Here an elegant survivor, it is not common to find a modest utilitarian wooden compass 2-3 centuries old and to be able to admire it still.
Solidly built from dark and hard wood, reinforced by iron on both ends, regulated by two nicely cut iron butterflies, this rather modest sector compass is much rarer than some beautiful brass compass from the same period, and collectors know .
Arms are cut 5 sides, the sector (remanufactured by former owner) has the merit of still existing, iron butterflies are superb, one holding pen or lead rod.. Beautiful object... Good condition, but restored: sector, and a wood graft on one lack: (red arrow)
Dimensions: 20cm x 22cm open.
This item is for immediate purchase, payable by credit card or paypal.
