Named after one of the Persian rulers of Oman; Sayyid Said bin Sultan (1806 -1856) whose wife, according to myth, fashioned a new design for it because she was bored with the traditional dagger form. Our example has a 19cm curved, double-edged blade with a central rib. The scabbard is of leather-wrapped wood wrapped in silver wire, with silver wire plates. The scabbard has seven linked silver rings. The hilt is set with classic Saidi silver filigree work, beaded wire and silver rosettes. Overall length is 31cm. In good overall condition. Some minor wear.
