"The port of Erbalunga in Corsica"
Oil on canvas,
Signed lower left, Located, countersigned and dated by the artist on the back of the canvas: "Corsica - Pierre Bach 1964",
Beautiful work with strong contrast by the Corsican painter Pierre Bach which represents a view of the fishing village of Erbalunga in Cap Corsica.
This view is also called "the painters' nest" because in the 1960s many island painters and photographers came to immortalize this beach.
Born in Toul in Meurthe et Moselle, Pierre Bach moved to Erbalunga in Corsica in 1929. He shares his studio with his friend, the photographer Joseph Moretti.
A student at the Nancy School of Fine Arts, the artist fully blossomed when he arrived in Corsica. He paints with a knife the beauty of his sites: his villages, his mountain and sea landscapes, his vegetation, ... with a lively painting. From 1930 to 1933, he participated in the Salon des Artistes Indépendants.
He exhibits frequently in the galleries of Ajaccio and in North Africa.
His works are kept in many French and foreign museums as well as in private collections.
