Auguste-Aristide-Fernand Constantin (1824 - 1895):
Auguste-Aristide-Fernand Constantin was a French painter and engraver, specializing in landscapes, genre scenes and views of cities under the Ancien Régime. Son of the architect Auguste Constantin, he trained with François-Édouard Picot and Thomas Couture. He began at the Salon in 1848 with landscape drawings and then distinguished himself as an etcher. In 1863, he published etchings with Alfred Cadart and in 1882 produced a series for the novel Isoline et la fleur serpent by Judith Gautier. His work, influenced by 18th-century art, demonstrates a taste for precision and historical detail.
