Object description :

"Louis XVI Mahogany Secretary, White Marble Top, Clover Lock And Key"
The secretaire that I present to you is an elegant and refined piece of furniture, typical of the Louis XVI period. It is made of mahogany and mahogany veneer, which gives it a warm and luxurious appearance. This piece of furniture opens with three drawers and a flap, thus offering a practical and organized storage space. The uprights of the secretaire are rounded and fluted, which adds a touch of sophistication to its design. They are finished with toupie feet, which are feet in the shape of a spinning top, providing a stable and aesthetic base. The top of the secretaire is made of white marble, adding a touch of luxury and durability. The upper drawer on the front is decorated with a small ogee molding, a decorative feature that adds depth and character to the piece of furniture. This drawer is equipped with two drop handles with brass rosettes, offering an easy and elegant grip. At the bottom, the secretaire opens with two identical drawers, the fronts of which have the same composition as the upper drawer. These drawers provide additional storage space and are perfect for organizing documents or personal items. The drop leaf, when open, is held in place by iron stays, ensuring a stable and secure opening. The fronts of the bureau are made of thick mahogany veneer over oak, providing a rich and textured appearance. The sides of the cabinet are composed of two panels, slightly recessed, with a small panel at the bottom and a large panel at the top. The white marble top, with a projection, follows the shape of the cabinet, adding a touch of sophistication and durability. The back, bottom and interiors of the bureau are made of oak, providing a solid and durable structure. The key and lock are in the shape of a clover and are in working order, adding a touch of charm and security to the cabinet. Graceful and refined, this 18th century bureau will delight you with its fine lines and the quality of its manufacture. It is a piece of furniture that combines functionality and aesthetics, perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any room.
