The painting represents the cultured invention of a Bolognese artist of the 17th century.
The adherence to the style of Guido Reni allows us to hypothesize that the canvas is an expression of his workshop, or that it was executed after Guido's death by a student who continued to express himself with observance of the aesthetic criteria of the Master.
The work is enclosed in an important carved and gilded wooden frame from the mid-17th century.
