This refined pair of apothecary jugs in majolica was crafted by the V.M. Bargello manufacture in Gubbio, renowned for its high-quality artistic ceramics. The jugs feature an elegant shape and are decorated with blue glaze, highlighting floral and geometric motifs typical of the Umbrian tradition.Each jug bears Latin inscriptions: “Syr de Due Radic” and “Syr De Terbinto”, referring respectively to syrups made from two roots and from turpentine tree resin, both used in pharmaceutical preparations.
The inscriptions and the high quality of craftsmanship suggest a dating between the late 19th and early 20th century.
