Budai (in Chinese 布袋) or Hotei (布袋 in Japanese), Bố Đại (in Vietnamese), also known by the nickname of "laughing Buddha", is a major figure in popular tradition in Asia, and particularly in Taoism, Buddhism and Shintoism. He generally represents generosity, fortune and abundance.
