Very beautiful alabaster virgin sculpted from the 17th century workshop of Trapani. a rare applique sculpture to find on the antiques market. our virgin with the radiant face is a Puríssima conception, she seems to be levitating.
the sculpture of the alabaster is remarkable so much the drapery is detailed and forms quite spectacular lace patterns.
it must have been integrated into a larger sculptural ensemble at one time.
look carefully at the superb work of the drapery. the head was glued back together a long time ago as well as a piece on the right side easily visible in the photos.
