Red ceramic candlestick, Peru, Quinua/Ayacucho region. Circa 1970.

In the center, a stylized face with a half-man, half-ucumari (also called a spectacled bear) outline, bordered on each side by a pan flute player. Above, a church with a figure inside; two clocks on the pediment, and a cross overlooking the building. The white-painted geometric patterns embellish and add substance to this piece. A handle is present on the back.
