"Ekoi Dance Crest"
Dance crest from the Ekoi in Nigeria, 22 cm, former P. Terrier collection (Paris), early 20th century. Wooden crest resting on a braided fiber hoop with leather plating throughout and the inclusion of hair on the back of the skull. This mask was therefore worn on top of the dancers' heads during initiation ceremonies or funerals. This mask is authentic and had no restoration.
