"Bonheur Du Jour From The Louis XVI Period "
Charming little occasional piece of furniture, called bonheur du jour, from the Louis XVI period, late 18th century, in mahogany and mahogany veneer on an oak core. Emblematic of the refinement of the creations of the end of the reign, it is composed of a drop-leaf desk, an upper body closed by a sliding curtain, two drawers, and a secret trapdoor with mechanism. One of the small drawers once had an inkwell and a powder. The lower body has two small drawers and a large one. The fine fluted legs end with light sabots. If we can note a slight crack on the top right panel, an inappropriate but clean green moleskin, the whole is in good condition and the varnish is very acceptable.
