Victorian HAC (Honourable Artillery Company) artillery officer's sabre, 1855 model, Victorian period 1860 - 1890, 19th century. Brass mount with filigree shagreen fuse. Oval cap decorated with line. Knuckle arc with four-leaf clovers and drop quillon decorated en suite. Openwork guard with grenade. Double-edged blade with acid-etched flattened third, bearing medallion with motto "ARMA/PACIS/FULRA" Latin heraldic motto "Arms are the balance of peace" of the Honourable Artillery Company. Leather scabbard with two brass fittings, see photos.
