"Jewelry Box"
... in tortoiseshell, burgau, ivory and silver-plated metal marquetry. Rectangular in shape and curved in elevation, it rests on four "ball" feet decorated with stylized foliage, chiseled and openwork in silver-plated metal. The lid has at its two ends two scrolls decorated on the front with burgau flowers fixed by silver-plated nails. It opens with a central compartment whose top is decorated with a bouquet of burgau flowers (irridations) inlaid and incised revealing a small mirror (pink satin lining missing). The interior of the box is compartmentalized and decorated with rows of silver-plated metal beads (missing / boxes and pink satin fittings missing or worn). Nails, hinges and lock entry in silver-plated metal (no key). England (work of the English East India Company?), 19th century. Height: 10 cm / length: 22.5 cm / depth: 16.2 cm (small accidents, missing...)
