Pair of silver-plated bronze candlesticks, model with a round base decorated with lanceoles, laurel leaves and gadroons, the bowl engraved with a coat of arms framed by unicorns under a marquis' crown, Louis XIV period. The coat of arms, fessed in gold and azure of six pieces, Marquis Louis de Montalieu, squadron leader of the galleys, field marshal under Louis XIV. Height 22.8cm - diameter 13.6cm. Condition, good, traces of use and wear to the silvering, formerly re-silvered. The two candlesticks are hallmarked with a crowned C (1745-1749) on the sockets.
