Framed painting depicting three male figures, with text on the right side. The one reading, seated on a throne covered with a tiger skin, is distinguished primarily by his beard, but also by his rich clothing. Both figures are standing, also wearing rich clothing (albeit somewhat less so), and one of them carries a halberd or spear, while the other holds an object in his hands. Guang Yu was a military general under Liu Bei during the late Eastern Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms period of ancient China. His life and exploits were so exalted and glorified that he was deified during the Sui Dynasty, which further accentuated his exploits in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and made him one of the foremost examples of loyalty and righteousness, who is still venerated today and goes by names such as "Emperor Guan" or "Lord Guan." Along with Zhang Fei, he shared a brotherly relationship with Lui Bei and accompanied him on some of his early exploits.
