"Paisley Cashmere Shawl, Empire Or Regency Fashion - Scotland Circa 1810-1830"
Circa 1810 - 1830Paisley ScotlandBeautiful Regency period woven wool and ivory silk fashion shawl. A rich, six-colored shawl with a fine twill weave whose wefts are partially cut on the reverse, a technique known as Lance Découpé. Scotland exported this type of stole shawl, directly inspired by the Mode à l'antique style, throughout Europe. It is an almost identical replica of Indian shawls with a row of eight Botehs at the ends and a gallery of palmettes. The fringes are unattached silk wisps. The side edges are sewn, as was frequently the case with Scottish Paisley shawls. The floral decoration of the boteh is inspired by the thousand flowers of India from the Mughal period, with an angular graphic called broken stick, equivalent to what was done in France at the same time. This shawl does not exceptionally have moth holes, but only a micro hole of 5 mm and two to three micro rust spots, hardly visible. Beautiful freshness of colors and extremely good condition considering its age. To collect or to wear. Dimensions: 131 cm X 283 cm.
