Splendid and unique octagonal mirror, called Guilloché, of beautiful size.
The ebonized frame in question has a carving called guilloché, whose band appears as a succession of smooth grooves alternating with bands carved in continuous waves.
This particular ornamental workmanship refers, specifically, to wooden or metal surfaces, made using specific tools called "guillocher", which allow the creation of a repetitive design of engraved lines, linear or wavy (as in this frame).
The octagonal shape makes it even rarer.
In a later period, shells of various sizes were applied to the internal groove (easily removable if desired).
Complete with its mercury mirror.
The state of conservation is excellent, only a few shells are missing, easily recoverable on the markets.
