"The Martyrdom Of Saint-philippe After José De Ribera, 19th Century School"
Oil on canvas from the 19th century, representing the Martyrdom of Saint Philip after José de Ribera.The original painting, measuring more than two metres, is kept in the Prado Museum.
The painting is of fine workmanship, unsigned but bears a label on the back attributing the work to Goya.
The idea that Goya could have taken over the painting from an old master is possible, but it is difficult to be certain of the attribution.
Good general condition, although it should be noted that there are several traces of restoration on the back. See photos!
