The frame takes the form of the Croix de Guerre with its two crossed swords. The edges of the arms are highlighted with a white enamel border.
In the center, the photo is highlighted by a silver-gilt border and a white enamel laurel frieze.
The frame has a beautiful, thick black patina which, unusually for silver objects, suits it very well.
A movable stand at the back allows the frame to be placed on its side.
The photo is of a World War I infantry soldier wearing his Horizon Blue greatcoat and an Adrian helmet.
The frame is hallmarked:
. Boar's head for solid silver.
. Illegible silversmith's mark: E? With a stem (?) as a mark.
. ABC.GL in a circle.
