TRIBAL ARTS-TRIBAL ART-SCULPTUREOCEANIAANTHROPOMORPHIC KNOB OF AUTHORITY SCEPTERCARVED WOOD LATE 19TH-EARLY 20TH CENTURY Beautiful anthropomorphic scepter/grip/staff of authority pommel, made of carved exotic wood; probably Oceania (Melanesia, Micronesia). Late 19th century, early 20th century. It depicts a male character (chief) wearing a headdress, a head covering made of feathers and foliage, as well as a loincloth made of natural fibers, in a posture of authority, arms crossed over the abdomen, a straight and powerful/haunting gaze. Old accident to the nose. Good general condition (see descriptive photos). Mounted on a wooden base/support.
