"Half-moon Display Cabinet, Louis XVI Style, Attributed To Sormani Or Maison Krieger, 1800"
Elegant Louis XVI style display case, probably made in Paris around 1800, attributed to Sormani or Maison Krieger. Its dark-stained thuja or maple burl wood is finely fluted, giving it a refined look. Rectangular in shape with rounded sides, it rests on a straight frame supported by round legs. Its glass front, featuring a central door, is framed by three-quarter fluted columns, while its rounded sides are also glazed. The rear corners are adorned with fluted pilasters. The interior, lined with mirror and blue velvet, highlights the objects on display. Its cornice and base are decorated with finely chiseled gilt bronze friezes, applied to a silver-plated background. The upper part is decorated with leafy scrolls, floral garlands, and musical satyrs, while the lower part features a frieze with scroll motifs and laurel wreaths. Other gilt bronze ornaments enrich the ensemble, including decorative friezes, Corinthian capitals and rosettes. Its white marble top is elegantly framed by a gilt bronze rod. Some elements have perforations for electrical connections, testifying to a possible adaptation to lighting. An exceptional piece combining refinement and craftsmanship. Dimensions: 120 × 45 × 103.5 cm
