"Pekingese And Ombre Silk Taffeta Quilt - Provence Circa 1780"
Circa 1780-1800 Provence Beautiful quilt or foot warmer in shaded Pekingese silk taffeta dating from the end of the Louis XVI period. Pale pink background finely striped with white and wide stripes in the direction of the warp alternating brown, burgundy, creamy yellow in a range of color gradients called shaded! Very light quilt and cotton wadding finely stitched with double rows of diamonds in the background and borders with interlacing flowers. On the reverse side a white cotton sateen. No dirt or holes, the silk Pekingese, originating from a factory in the south of France (Nîmes?) is not fuzzy and remains very solid. Note a very slight discoloration on a small strip, less visible in reality than in the photos. Very good overall condition. Dimensions: 160 cm x 140 cm.
