Object description :

"Puiforcat: Neo-gothic Sugar Tongs In Openwork Solid Silver, Ironwork Model, Late 19th Century. "
Rare Neo-Gothic sugar tongs by the silversmith Puiforcat.

The arms of the tongs are expertly pierced to form interlacing patterns reminiscent of door or gate fittings. They are decorated with a heraldic rose.
The ends are formed by lion's paws.

The tongs are hallmarked:
. Minerva, 1st grade, before 1973 for 950/°° silver
. EP with a knife for the hallmark of Emile Puiforcat, active from 1857 to 1883.

Superb sugar tongs, a rare model requiring incredible pierced work.
