The octagonal case is entirely covered in coarse-grained shagreen. The mount, the inside of the lid, the pierced plate, and the opening button are made of 18-karat gold.
The case is complete with its six original mother-of-pearl lancets mounted with gold-lined rivets.
The blades are marked, under a closed crown: M // Paris.
Lancets are the ancestors of our current scalpels. This small kit was ordered by a doctor or surgeon who visited his patients and had this case in his medical kit. The preciousness of the object tells us about the prestigious clientele he had.
The mount is not hallmarked but has been tested with a touchstone.
A superb surgical kit, extremely rare in this configuration. Mother-of-pearl lancets are rare (they are usually made of horn or tortoiseshell), especially in a shagreen case with a solid gold mount.
7.8 cm high

Very good condition. A tiny bit of shagreen missing. One lancet is missing its gold rivet.
