"Portrait of a Young Officer of the Civic Guard of Pope Pius IX (1846-1878)" holding a glass and his sword, in MODEL 1847 uniform, his black patent leather helmet with brass fittings, black patent leather visor, with a brass band folded astride the outer edge, front plate with the Arms of Pope Pius IX, decorated with a tiara and two crossed keys, the whole placed on an antique shield bearing the inscription "PIO IX" with a nickel silver plate at the top. Italian School circa 1860, Oil on canvas, some scratches to the varnish and flaking. Gilded wooden frame to be revised, 80 x 65cm, stretcher 74 x 59 cm
