"Bronze Albert Schultz (1871-1953) Gänseliesel Or The Alsatian"
Bronze Albert SCHULTZ (1871-1953). Bronze patinated statuette depicting an Alsatian woman accompanied by a goose called "Gänseliesel", made at the beginning of the 20th century by Albert Schultz (1871-1953). The young girl, wearing the large Alsatian knot, is depicted in a spiral movement. Her head is turned backward to look at the thieving goose while her shoulders move in the opposite direction to move the basket of vegetables away. The life-size original was completed in 1898, initially for the Ancienne Douane, but was quickly moved to the Parc de l'Orangerie near the Pavillon Joséphine, where it still stands.
