The cup is numbered GLL, probably the initials of its first owner.
It is also engraved with the later number "MA" within a shield.
The cup is hallmarked:

. Poorly struck master silversmith's mark to be identified: JD?
. Partial hallmark trace under the base, most likely the jurande mark.
. Dog's head: Parisian discharge mark for the same period.
A very fine cup, relatively early, with a well-flared rim, thick walls, and a weight that reflects its quality of manufacture.
