The snuffbox has a scalloped shape, still very Louis XV in style; the base and mount are made of solid silver.
The lid, base, and body of the snuffbox are made of horn. The body and lid are very finely painted with rich and colorful bouquets of flowers, in the Dutch manner.
Five bouquets are painted, all very detailed with a wide variety of flowers. The rich polychromy contrasts beautifully with the gray/taupe background.
The mount is hallmarked:
