Judaica: Bessamim Sterling Silver Spice Box In The Shape Of An Articulated Fish.

Superb solid silver Bessamim spice box, probably dating from the early 20th century, but may be older.

The box is shaped like a fish with a hinged tail and an opening head to hold the spices.
The eyes are made of two blue glass cabochons.

The fish is very well executed, of superior quality to the production usually seen for these fish-shaped Jewish spice boxes.

The box is hallmarked:

. Hallmark resembling a bunch of grapes, to be identified

. Later French import hallmark: weevil

Superb bessamim box, of very fine quality with careful craftsmanship.
