"Studies Of Goats By Théodore Jourdan (1833-1906)"
Beautiful study of a goat's head by the Provençal painter Théodore Jourdan. He was born in Salon de Provence in 1833 and died in Marseille in 1906. From 1874 to 1903 he taught at the Beaux-arts school in Marseille. In 1879 he won a gold medal at the Sydney World's Fair. His favorite subjects were Provençal landscapes and rural scenes. This painting, an oil on cardboard, is of excellent quality, the artist's brushstroke is sure and fine and its condition is impeccable. Signed lower right.
