"Pair Of Louis XVI Gilt Bronze Candlesticks, Asparagus And Pearl Model"
Very fine model with a gadrooned bulb socket, with a fluted, tapered and rudenté shaft decorated with asparagus, with bundles held by alternating ribbons and foliage, the edges decorated with pearl friezes, which is similar to the one ordered for the royal residence of Compiègne around 1784 under the charge of Marc-Antoine Thierry de Ville d'Avray, then intendant of the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne. A model therefore in the purest refinement of the Louis XVI period, the height of French decorative arts. We offer for sale another pair of candlesticks of the same typology, slightly larger although less finely chiseled and without pearl friezes. Work probably from the 19th century. Base diameter: 120 mm Total height: 215 mm
