After training at the Ecole nationale supérieure des Arts décoratifs, he pursued a very classical artistic career. He painted decorative frescoes for several public monuments including the castle and the Town Hall of Vincennes, his commune of residence where he died in 1980. He also dealt with religious and historical subjects, multiplied still lifes and was inspired by the landscapes he discovered during his walks. He thus liked to paint the forests of Ile de France and the Breton coastline. Also an admirer of mountainous sites, he joined the Society of Mountain Painters. His predilection for mountain scenes earned him the reputation of "painter of the mountains." His style is figurative with particular attention paid to light and colors. Having family in Mayenne, Paul Delormoz regularly stayed at Grand Coudray, a commune of Chantrigné, in the north of the department. He lived there in June 1944 when, demobilized, he could not find his apartment in Vincennes, which was still requisitioned. The city of Laval had just been bombed by the Allied air force and the painter reproduced the destroyed bridges and viaducts. These gouaches on cardboard presented in the window of a shoe store on rue de Rennes were a great success with the people of Laval. Paul Delormoz (1895-1980) Born in Paris in 1895, died in Vincennes in 1980. Former student of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
