Medallion representing a dog's head in profile, signed Lucien Gibert (1904-1988), circa 1940 French sculptor and medalist, he worked with Despiau. Exhibited from 1923 at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants. Received the gold medal in 1937 at the International Exhibition in Paris. Laureate and scholarship holder of French Equatorial Africa in 1948, he traveled first to Algeria then to Black Africa and brought back sketches and photographs inspiring many sculptures that he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français. He was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1950; He carried out numerous state commissions. Author of more than 200 medals for the Monnaie de Paris, institution of which he was the director.
