Drawing, project by the architect Alphée Scheffer (1820-1867)Architectural project incorporating two triumphal arches, one topped with the French flag and bearing the inscriptions: France Indus (Industry) Monument (um) Fatherland. The other triumphal arch topped with a white flag with a blue anchored cross (silver with an azure anchored cross) and Sardai (Sardinia?)In front of the first triumphal arch, a guardhouse is depicted, also with a flag. On the bridge separating the two arches, monumental statues, street lamps, and figures. Project for an Exposition (Universal?) or for a border post? Jean Alphée Cyprien Scheffer, born in Auxonne (Côte d'Or) on September 11, 1820, son of Floréal Scheffer, 26 years old, architect and road builder of the town of Auxonne, and Rosalie Joséphine Marandet, student of Pierre Joseph Garrez (in the workshop on October 25, 1840), admitted on December 23, 1842, obtained a total of 19 values including 1 Medal in general construction, 1st class on August 7, 1846, obtained 2 Second Medals in sketch and project submitted on May 7 and September 10, 1847.
