Miniature on ivory from the end of the 18th century, French school, representing the portrait of an infantry officer decorated with the Order of Saint-Louis, dimensions without frame H4.2 cm x W3.3 cm, dimensions with frame H6.5 cm x W5.5 cm (the glass has been replaced by a plexiglass, because the old glass was crystallized still in our possession). Small restorations and almost invisible micro crack. Provenance: old Breton family including Simon-Bernard Joly de Rosgrand (Port-Louis 1740 - Quimperlé 1802), shipowner and supercargo of the ships of the Compagnie des Indes in Lorient, by descent, property of Saint-Malo.
