"17th Century Fan Project"
Magnificent and rare fan project glued on an oak panel. It offers a beautiful allegory of gallant love with a young suitor, courting two young ladies, but also an allegory of age and the passing of time with the representation of an old man warming himself in front of a brazier. In the foreground, a chariot of love driven by two Cupids and pulled by two horses adorned with brocade, all decorated with garlands of flowers. This painting, which was never pleated for its use, was probably glued on an oak panel and framed in the 18th century (frame mounted with keys, old ring and old glass). The colors are remarkably fresh with very fine gold highlights. Be careful of reflections from the window when taking the picture as well as muted colors. French school of the 17th century, Louis XIV period. Frame: 46 cm x 40 cm Painting: 33 cm x 27 cm
