"Mondrian Style Gabbeh Rug. Mid 20th Century. 285 X 92 Cm"
Very bright Gabbeh rug from Iran featuring a geometric pattern of large rectangles in bright colors: red, yellow, blue, green, and almost black. The arrangement of shapes and the use of primary colors are strongly reminiscent of the style of Piet Mondrian, a Dutch artist associated with the De Stijl movement. Mondrian's influence is evident here in the geometric abstraction and the clear separation of the colored blocks. With its organic shapes, the piece is a true painting to place on the floor! Woven and knotted wool on wool in the traditional way. The pile is thick, approximately 1.5 cm for optimal comfort. Circa 1950 Superb condition Dim: 285 x 92 cm Laurent Beauty of Kilims
