"Rare Small Japanese Lacquer Writing Box. 18th Century"
Rare small box in Japanese lacquer, gilded and with a black background, containing a desk kit, inkwell and sprinkler box in brass, gilded with mercury. The top offers a pretty natural scene, decorated with flowering plants and birds while the edge is decorated with hens and roosters surrounded by plants. This box is opened by a silver push button (just like the hinges of the same metal) and we discover the small writing kit encased by a scalloped partition painted in faux aventurine. The lid offers us inside a superb scene of a cockfight gilded and engraved on an aventurine background. Some small scales on the lacquer, but the object remains completely fresh. Work of the 18th century, Japanese lacquer for the European market. Louis XV period.
