Important ormolu torch, mounted as a lamp, of tripod form, with richly chased decoration of sphinxes with heads of young women wearing antique-style buns and garlands in their hair.
The neck is adorned with a necklace of large pearls on a lace breastplate, and the body simulates that of an animal, resting on prominent hocks ending in claws.
On each of the three sides is a stylized palmette simulating passementerie.
Napoleon III period
